Lessons
As a teacher, Sarah is known for being able to break down the complex concepts of dressage into pieces that are easy to understand and execute. Sarah's instruction focuses on correct bio-mechanics and creating relaxation, harmony, and confidence in both horse and rider. Our students learn to ride horses forward and over the back into an elastic, soft contact.
Lessons are available on your own horse or our lesson horse, Seal. Seal is a 14 y/o 16hh black Solid Paint gelding. He is a safe and patient teacher, and is a joy to ride! Shown through First level and schooled through Second plus flying changes!
Lessons start at $75/hr on your own horse, or $100/hr on our school horse. Discounted packages available. We also accept haul-in lessons and a limited number of local off-property lessons (haul-in or travel fees apply.)
Backing & Foundation Training
Sarah specializes in backing and foundation training for young horses of all breeds and future disciplines. They are trained with a systematic approach and gently brought along at their own pace to eliminate the confusion, tension and fear commonly associated to "breaking" a young horse. Using a combination of desensitization, in-hand work, and long-lining, they are taught to understand contact and vocal cues while maintaining relaxation throughout. From the first ride, they are confident in moving forward and out to contact, carrying the rider with a relaxed, swinging back. From there, they are developed slowly in a varied program, incorporating cavaletti, hill work and trail riding in their regular regimen to build strength through their core and topline.
We accept horses for training in our young horse program on a full training basis only. Full training is starts at $1000/mo. While we can accept 3 year olds for initial groundwork training, we do not begin under saddle training on horses less than 4 years old.
Classical Dressage Training
Our training program focuses on the foundation of the Classical Training Scale to produce horses that are relaxed, supple, and light to the aids. Sarah believes that every horse can benefit from learning correct dressage principles, whether they're Ex-Racehorses, former Western Pleasure mounts, or imported Warmbloods bred for the sport. Her soft and sympathetic approach produces happy, willing athletes that are easy and fun to ride.
Training rides start at $75/hr, with Full Training packages starting at $1000/mo.
Equine Sports Massage Therapy
As a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist, Sarah incorporates massage into her training program to help improve suppleness, relaxation, and release of tension. This hands-on approach also allows her to evaluate the horse regularly for areas of tightness or asymmetry.
In addition, Equine Sports Massage has been shown to:
- Boost athletic performance and endurance.
- Restore mobility to injured or restricted muscle tissue.
- Aid in preventing injury and loss of mobility.
Equine Arts includes one monthly massage session with our Full training packages. Additional sessions start at $50/hr, with package discounts available.
Boarding
We offer premium full care boarding at our private facility in Belle Mead, NJ, only 15 minutes from Princeton. At Equine Arts Dressage, your horses are treated like our own and cared for exclusively by passionate equine professionals. We believe that horses should get to be horses and encourage as much turnout and socialization as possible.
- Daily private or small group turnout all day or overnight (weather permitting) in large grass pastures with 4 board fencing.
- Free choice premium orchard grass hay
- High-quality Low-Starch feeds from Tribute and Purina
- Owner provided supplement and medication administration included
- Blanket changes, fly spraying and booting for turnout
- Hoof picking and legs checked after turnout
Full Care Board starting at $950/mo, limited pasture board spaces available at $650/mo.
